Why do free sugar products cost more when they cost a fraction of the production cost?

This is most likely due to the motivation of the buyer, who is willing to pay extra for more "healthy product". You don't have to convince the customer because the absence of sugar in the product is a marker for the customer when making a purchasing decision.

In the U.S. the corn syrup is even in sausages and the sugar free product is in high demand.
